The following links will lead you to all the information and tools you will need to make your web project succeed. Please take the time to read the installation instructions for components, and do not forget to publish your modules, and mambots to make them work. Don't know what all that means? This is the best way to get familiar with Joomla!:
Login to the administration area and follow the instructions we sent to you in an email entitled "Joomla! Installation Details". (If you don't see it, check your spam folder).
Watch these videos , and build your site at the same time. Browse our template directory, and find a template that suits your needs. Download the particular template. Install your template. (Click here for video) Assign your template.(Click here for video) Edit the logo image by following the directions in this slide: Install Joomla! Xplorer (Click here to view video on how to install a component ) Open Joomla! Xplorer (Components - Scroll Down to Joomla! Xplorer - Double Click) Navigate through the folders until you find the templates folder. Find the image you want to replace within the template folder. Upload a file with the same exact name and file extension, and choose overwrite old file when you upload the replacement image. The image should be the same size. If you want to use a larger phoo you will have to edit the template. Open the website (non-administrator, or "frontend") portion of your website in a new window. You may have to refresh the page a number of times for the image to update, or clear your browser's cache. Tinker with the image if necessary by repeating this process as many times as necessary. Adding the Content and New Features: Find extensions here , that can expand your installation of Joomla! With these extensions your website can perform a variety of different functions. Follow the directions that came with the extension to utilize its functions. The Last Step: Getting everything in the right place- Publishing the Modules- Begin by watching these videos.
- In the Administrator side of your website, go to "modules" on the top navigation bar, and select "Site Modules"- not "Administrator Modules".
- Change the position of the module and publish it. (Underneath the title fields) If you don't know what position the modules are in the template you have installed, go to Site - Preview In-Line with Positions on the top navigation bar. This will give you a window that shows where the published modules will appear when you configure the modules.
- Select the pages you would like the modules published on. The page list will appear on the right hand side of the page. The possible selections will be the pages linked from the menus you have configured.
Congratulations! You have built a custom Joomla! website! |
